my blue commercial 45 issued as king 6071 lists a run time
on the label as 2:45 and actually runs 2:44....my run out
groove info is 'x-50679' then 'k45-12270'....can anyone
else confirm their 45's run time as it looks like there may

Hello Todd, Jim, and all ships at sea...

Just had the chance to compare the yellow 45 with Singles Vol. 4 (thanks again, Jim) and Jim is correct. The Hip-o version matches the yellow label version. "...And Dig The Band" at :12 is missing. However, Hip-o faded it a few seconds early and there's a slight speed difference. The correct time is 2:46. Jim, my yellow label deadwax is "K-45-12270." Looks like they moved the "1" to the right of the hyphen. That same number appears on the right side of the label, just above the time and the publisher info. My blue-labelled commercial 45, also confirmed as King 6071, has a listed time of (2:45), but an actual time of (2:39). My 45 is vinyl, with deadwax info of "K-451-2270". I wonder if my deadwax info is the same or different to the one found on your yellow-labelled commercial copy, Robert?

Robert, in 1967 King was issuing at least some, if not most of their promo 45s on yellow labels. Is there any indication of "promo" stated on your yellow label copy? Does "Bring It Up" appear on both sides of your 45? I don't happen to own that promo 45. Further, I've never seen a yellow-labelled King stock 45 from that era. ASAP, I will shoot you out the version of "Bring It Up" included on the recent James Brown Hip-0 Select Singles Box volume that includes it, to assist you with your analysis. I'm wondering if someone can help w/this. I have a King yellow label 45 of this song that doesn't match the version on the 50th Anniv Collection CD. It's missing some vocal overdubs. Is this another one of King's dual releases (like Hank Ballard's The Twist" and Bonnie Lou's "Daddy-o"). Or perhaps is it a rerecording? Hence the yellow label. Or maybe it's the original and the DB is wrong. The number (45-6071) matches the number in Whitburn.
