My memory was correct above, but here are the instructions:

1) Remove the first 10.9 seconds of the LP version.
2) Using the remaining audio, delete everything after 3:54.

The commercial 45 is the full-length LP version. From memory, the promo edit removes the intro percussion and guitar riff (starting the song where the drums and synth kick in) and fades early.
