Yeah, I remember WFLZ in Tampa played the Vocal Mix on occasion, and my old top 40 station would spike it in, too, once in a while. I have the Vocal Mix promo and it's more of a remix that is definitely different than the one you're probably used to hearing.

Although I'm pretty sure there was never a promo issued without the soft electronic percussion intro, my station always cued past this when playing it on the air. I'm sure most other stations did the same.

My reason for this post, though, is that there are two 1-track promos. One has the album version, and the other has the "Vocal Mix." I don't own the actual promo, but here is the info from an online seller:
