To me, that means the 45 version is purely <br />an edit of the LP version.  I prefer the 45 version, it seems to flow much <br />better, but maybe that is not what they intended.]]>

The edit is on a snare, and actually cuts off a portion of the word at 0:43, but sounds quite natural once it's finished.<br /><br />The LP version on the 2-fer <em>Vaporized</em> (1997) sounds quite close to <em>Living In Oblivion Vol. 1</em>.<br /><br />The LP version on Priority's <em>Rock Of The '80s Vol. 3</em> (1992) is too loud and clips a lot.  The same analog transfer is found on <em>Richard Blade's Flashback Favorites Vol. 4</em> (1994).<br /><br />The LP version on Rhino's <em>Just Can't Get Enough Vol. 2</em> (1994) clips a lot.  There are digital clones on Time-Life's <em>Sounds Of The Eighties Vol. 22 1980-1983</em> (1997; 3 dB quieter) and Time-Life's 2-CD <em>Modern Rock Vol. 2 1980-1981</em> (1999; 2.5 dB quieter).<br /><br />The LP version on Rhino's 7-CD <em>Like Omigod</em> (2002) is a little quieter than <em>Just Can't Get Enough Vol. 2</em>, and clips a little less, but otherwise sounds close to <em>Just Can't Get Enough Vol. 2</em>.<br /><br />The LP version on EMI Australia's 5-CD <em>Eighties Complete Vol. 1</em> (1997) is probably from higher-generation source tapes but doesn't sound all that bad.<br /><br />The LP version on EMI UK's <em>Time To Remember 1980</em> (1997) is compressed and has a brassy-sounding EQ.  Avoid.<br /><br />I prefer the sound on <em>Living In Oblivion</em>, but <em>Vaporized</em> and the Rhino and Time-Life discs also sound OK.<span style="font-size:10px"><br /><br />Edited by crapfromthepast</span>]]>

It was one of <br />those edits that looked like it wasn't going to work but <br />sounded fine in practice.<span style="font-size:10px"><br /><br />Edited by Roscoe</span>]]>
