But it won't debut until 2012, unfortunately. They will announce the details at CES in January. But a step in the right direction. They say they will "aggressively" promote them. Unclear whether it will be through iTunes or their own website; however, I will point out the Universal UK already offers FLAC downloads... but you can't buy them from the US.
