It involves using a portion of
the earlier chorus and just the one snippet of the end
choruses, the "oooh lord" part.
Then once you EQ and compress it, it has the "sound" of
the mono mix.
MM

I was 90% sure that this was a new stereo remix for Rock Artifacts, but I'd sold that disc and didn't have access to the liner notes any more.

I believe the database should be updated to show that all stereo versions running 3:01 or 3:02 are the 1991 remix done by Bob Irwin and Vic Anesini (first appeared on Rock Artifacts Vol. 1).

In addition, all stereo versions running 2:36 to 2:41 should be labeled as early fades of the 1991 remix. It's not quite right to call them "stereo 45 versions", because the true 45 includes edits from 2:23 onward.

And had several unique mixes. "Thank You (Fa Lettin Me Be Mice Elf Again), Hot Fun In The Summertime" and "Everybody Is A Star" made their Quad/Stereo debut on this SQ Quad LP issue. Stereo LP issue of the same LP was rechanneled Stereo until the new Stereo remix done on "The Essential Sly & The Family Stone" and the Legacy remaster of "Greatest Hits". I still own my SQ Quad LP of the album. According to legend, when Epic was assembling the Greatest Hits LP, the true Stereo masters for the above songs weren't found. When the Quad LP was being prepared, Sly found the masters at home for all tracks and remixed them for Stereo/SQ Quad/ Discrete 8 track cartridge tapes.

Edited by KentT

On the Classic Rock 1969 disc, the fade begins at around the 2:25 mark. When Sly sings out "oooh lord" at the end, the song is very very deep into the fade.

The other 2 cds that I have it on are "Summer and Sun" on Rhino and "Nick At Night Patio Pool Party" and both of these have the correct fades.

According to the datebase, the version on "Summer and Sun" and "Nick At Night Patio Pool Party" are in Mono while "Classic Rock 1969" is (E). Would that have anything to do with it? Either way, the database should probably note the early fades.

-Jeff

Edited by Fetta
