I actually stumbled upon this several years ago when I picked up the Razor & Tie compilation "I Want My New Wave," which also contains the 45 version.

I'd be curious to know if there are other "classic" non-top-40 songs that have 45/LP distinctions. Great find! I never noticed the difference before, which
is odd since my only exposure to the song during its
chart run was on MTV (which would have been the 45
version as you note above). Likely because I didn't hear
it much after the video faded from MTV (at least until it
started to appear on CD compilations in the 90s).

Anyway, it appears that the LP version is much more
common on CD than the 45 version. Of the 6 CDs I own
with this song, only "Just Can't Get Enough" has the 45
version. Allmusic.com has a handful of listings that are
probably the 45 version based on run time, but that

not sure if this has been mentioned on the message boards before, but since we're talking about big hits that weren't Top 40 lately, I recently discovered something about Mexican Radio by Wall of Voodoo that I never knew. The single version is different than the album version.

The album version runs about 4:09, the single version runs about 3:57.

The single version may be slightly remixed, but there are some more noticeable differences. The intro to the song has an overdub of a Spanish speaking radio announcer (kind of like the part in the middle of the song). This part is not present on the LP version.

Also, on the fade out of the single version, when he keeps repeating "radio, radio. radio, radio," ONLY on the single version does he one time actually say "oleo, radio."
