The index display
on a CD player would show 1 during the body of the song,
change to 2 at a point that would trigger the next event
then to 3 at the end, presumably to mute that player. Which is kind of odd because it sounds like the intro was extended by using the music from the first verse without the vocals to give it the long intro. There's also an obvious splice right before the vocal starts.

So I agree with Jim, the comp took poetic license, and the 5:25 version was all that was officially released either commercially or promotionally.

Based on this, Aaron, my conclusion is that the Broadcast
Programming radio comp took some "poetic license" with their chop of the
intro. One final note: my 45 says the song is from the EP, "I Could Rule The
World If I Could Only Get The Parts". I believe that was the only commercially
available source for this track, back in 1981.

If so, does it contain the full 5:20ish version, or was there a shorter version on the single?
