Apparently, Decca in the U.S. had bad tape copies to work
with in 1971. I have two copies of this 45 and it doesn't
sound much better. I have Murray Head's "Superstar" on one CD, Super Hits of the '70s, Vol. 5 (Rhino 70925), and I've never been particularly impressed with the song's sound quality on this disc. To me, it almost sounds like it was mastered from a worn out tape or perhaps a second or third generation copy.
