I just heard a custom edit that Jim has (thank, Jim), and compared it to the 45 version. The custom edit sounds perfect, and I don't detect any reverb on the guitar passage...only the delay that is also present on the 45 version.

In fact, he's now grants access to his "library" for a small fee. I haven't checked it out, but he also puts up the "obscure record of the week" on the public site. This week, it's "Desiderata" by Les Crane.

http://www.skylinemastering.com/

Tom Daly owns it and does their mastering. He posts on BSN all the time. He usually has a "recording of the month" on his website with a song or version that's never appeared on CD, but I don't know that it's downloadable anymore.

Edited by Brian W.

I've managed to come pretty close. However, the electric guitar from 2:04 to 2:16 on the 45 sounds dry (no reverb) and does not bleed into the double bass passage that follows the guitar solo. By contrast, the electric guitar passage on the 25+ minute LP version seem to contain added reverb and does bleed into the double bass passage.

Just wondering if anyone has come up with a way to edit the LP version to match the 45?

Edited by Todd Ireland
