Though the Exciters version was 1966 I think.<br />I'd have to chalk it up to another regional airplay issue. I really don't think the Paul Davis or Nigel Olssen versions were played much on AM or FM here. (Again, never heard them.)<br /><br />If anyone would have asked me about Bert Berns, I would have known almost nothing as well. From what I've read so far today, he was what we would call a "Dicey" individual.]]>

Paul Davis took it to #52 in 1970.  <br />Interestingly, the Exciters, Paul Davis & Nigel Olsson versions were all on Bang records.<br /><br />Never heard the Jarmels until the oldies format took off.  Of the 4, I'd have to say it's my least favorite, with <br />Paul Davis' version being my preferred one.]]>

When the bass singer takes over the lead and sings the word "day" in the phrase "night and day," he didn't go back up to the root note as he does on the version I always hear, I seem to recall he ended on a relatively lower note (the 6th). Wonder if that's floating around on some CDs as well. ]]>

Does anyone <br />have that LP to note the runtime there?<br /><br />Often when a song is mixed to stereo many years after it was a hit, it is <br />changed somewhat (fades different, mixing, missing parts...).<span style="font-size:10px"><br /><br />Edited by davidclark</span>]]>
