So one that falls under this category is:

Paul Nicholas - "Heaven on the 7th Floor".

There are probably quite a few songs that fall into this category. Others?

As I think of other songs (for either category), I'll list them here.

Edited by EdisonLite

I can only think of one (non-benefit) hit single from the 1980s, where the recording act never recorded anything else but that one single."

OK, I like that idea and I'll start that thread.

As was already mentioned, there's "Life is a Rock" by Reunion and "Pump Up the Volume" by M/A/R/R/S.

The first 2 songs that come to mind for me are:
"Makin' It" - David Naughton
"She's Like the Wind" - Patrick Swayze

In both cases, it could be argued that the actors were pursuing their acting careers and had no interest in recording an album.

BTW, around 1990, I was in a grocery store, waiting in line to pay for my items, when I noticed in front of me was a person who appeared to be David Naughton. I asked, and it was. And I asked him why he didn't record a whole album after "Makin' It" became such a big hit. I don't remember his exact response but it was something like what I said above.

Edited by EdisonLite
