Author: MMathews
Subject: 8743
Posted: 30 April 2017 at 4:22pm

I'm reporting on Date 45 1549, listed and actual (2:34)

It was brought to my attention that there was a mix
difference between the mono 45 and stereo LP versions.
There was a mono LP, but I have no idea which mix was
used on that.

I compared the two mixes by sync-ing them together. All
the vocals and most instruments sync'd perfectly (but
mixed differently)... but the drums would not line up.
Not only is it a different mix, but the drum track is
completely different, not the same performance. At first
I thought they overdubbed more drums, but no each version
has drum hits that do not appear in the other version.

The mono mix also has more drum rolls and a big reverb on
the snare hits. At the 2 places where she "takes a deep
breath" ... in the LP version the drums stop for a moment
but in the mono 45 they keep playing.

So I guess this song will need a "(stereo LP version)"
version designation in the database for all entries.

MM

Edited by MMathews
