Yes, the LP version starts cold. My source is the LP Best Of Tavares as

Looked for a thread on this and couldn't find one, which means there obviously is one.

My only source for the LP version of this song (have the 45 version on a couple of comps) is the Capitol 1940-2002 box set. However, this version fades
