The 7-inch version, indicated as "Hot Mix", is indeed identical to the "Hot Mix" on the promo CD except for the weird 12 seconds of what appear to be faint studio sounds (you can hear some faint voices and what sound to me like cymbal taps). The stated run times on my promo CD are as stated in the database, not as stated above. I timed the actual run time of the "Hot Mix" on the promo CD at 5:11, including the opening studio noises.

The true commercial single version running 4:59 appears on the UK commercial CD single, on which it is called "edit".

I didn't notice the "Hot
Mix" notation on the 45 label when I first looked at it,
so I think it's safe to assume that Track 1 is indeed the
45 version with 12 seconds of mostly blank space at the
beginning of the track. (I say mostly because you can
hear a little bit of what I guess is in-studio noise,
like a switch or button being turned on).

I didn't listen to the full "Original Mix" on Track 2,
but it seems to have the same instrumentation on the
intro as the Album Mix, so it probably is just a shorter
version of the Album Mix. The intro on the "Hot
Mix"/Single Version is different.

    Author: thecdguy
Subject: 9224
Posted: 28 January 2020 at 6:59pm

I noticed that the 45 for this song has a listed running time of 4:59. The promo CD Single on Discogs
(MCA5P-2539) lists the following tracks & times:

1. Hot Mix (5:16)
2. Original Mix (5:02)
3. LP Version (6:26)

Below the listing on Discogs is a notation that Track 1 begins at :12 seconds in. So my question is, is it
safe to assume that Track 1 is the same as the 45 version, just with 12 seconds of silence tacked on to
the beginning? The reason I ask is because without the 12 seconds of silence, it would come close to the
listed run time of 4:59 with about 4-5 seconds of what I assume would be silence at the end of the track.
And with Track 2 also being close to the 45 run time, I thought there might be a possibility that it could
be the 45 version.

Also, does anyone know what version was used on the commercial Cassette Single?
