Author: LunarLaugh
Subject: 9645
Posted: 06 August 2021 at 2:14pm

Hey fellow forum members. I haven't really mentioned it
beyond the link in my signature line, but I am in an
indie pop band called The Lunar Laugh. In the past five
years, we have released 3 full length albums and a
handful of singles. While you currently find us anywhere
in the top 40, we still have been lucky enough to gain a
faithful following (particularly in Spain and other
parts of the EU where "powerpop" fans run rampant).

We are releasing a brand new single called "Allegiance"
next Friday, August 13th on Big Stir Records. This is
our maiden voyage with them as our label and we are
really excited to have them in our corner.

This will be a digital-only single and, as far as we are
concerned, it will not be available on any physical
album. There is a pre-save link below that will take you
to your platform of choice.

Here is the Big Stir press release:

Longtime friends of Big Stir Records and
acclaimed stars of the indie pop scene in their native
Oklahoma City and well beyond, THE LUNAR LAUGH make
their debut for the label with the brand new single
“Allegiance.” A complete standalone track not slated for
any forthcoming album, it nonetheless heralds both the
band's return to the stage this September and a bigger
Big Stir collaboration, yet to be announced, which
highlights THE LUNAR LAUGH's prowess as a songwriting
and performing unit alike.

THE LUNAR LAUGH was last heard from on 2019's widely-
hailed third full-length album GOODNIGHT NOISES
EVERYWHERE. That record broadened the sonic pallet
established by founding singer/songwriters JARED LEKITES
and CONNOR ANDERSON with more prominent contributions
from bandmate CAMPBELL YOUNG enriching the sound. Still
intertwining their modern pop and rock structure with
hooks under the influence of power pop masterworks of
the '60s and '70s as on the previous two records, THE
LUNAR LAUGH was praised for bravely exploring new
ground. The potent new combination blossomed onstage, at
home and on the road, until the COVID-19 pandemic
dictated a break from live performance.

And now they're back, onstage and in the studio with
their creative momentum uninterrupted. Says Lekites of
the new single. "'Allegiance' is the first song we
recorded upon our return to the studio towards the
beginning of 2021. We wanted to put out a stand-alone
single that wasn't attached to any album and we thought
that one had the most single-friendly vibe.
Stylistically, we were inspired by the somewhat weird
shift in soft rock and middle of the road stuff that
occurred in the late 80s and early 90s which was
encompassed on the omnipresent K-Mart Radio and the like
(the music of Phil Collins, Paul Young, and Bruce
Hornsby comes to mind). We were feeling nostalgic about
those days in the same way that people who were around
our age in the 1970s felt nostalgic about the 1950s and
early rock 'n' roll.”

It's just one of the exciting directions in which the
band is moving today. Much of the full scope of it is
best appreciated in the live performances that win THE
LUNAR LAUGH new fans wherever they play, and which the
band has been diligently documenting in recent years.
That's both a fundamental truth about THE LUNAR LAUGH
and a hint at what's to come very soon on their first
full-length release for BSR... but for now, “Allegiance”
is ready for the radio, and we expect to be hearing it
far beyond K-Mart this fall.

Pre-
Save links here!

Thanks for checking us out.
All the best!
-Jared
