I suspect that
the Elektra Top-40 promotions department simply told
programmers the best version is on that Hitmakers disc,
rather than press up a new promo 45 or manufacture a
promo CD.

Andy

I see two issues of GoldDisc that states 4:15,
which could end up being 4:30 to the full fade-out. Neither issue mentions "Edit of LP version." 1749-R and 4110N.

I haven't sampled these versions to see if they are the same as the Hitmakers versions.

It runs 4:29½ and the percussion-only intro runs 8 seconds.

However, Hitmakers Top 40 CD Sampler vol. 6 - May 27, 1988 contains a 4:24 edit with more reverb (mainly on the right) and the percussion intro is trimmed down to 4 seconds.
