Our commercial 45 of "A Must To Avoid" by Herman's Hermits (MGM 13437) states a time of (2:18), but actually runs (1:54).

Can't resist bringing my question to the top of the list. Why is there a "45 version" for 2 the CDs with the mono version of this song. I and many others feel the stereo (found on the import CD "The Best Of The EMI Years Volume 1") is the same take.

I believe the stereo version is the same take, but it is definitely a different mix (more prominant 'strum' guitar in the mono mix, for one thing).

I hear percussion on the 45 version that I do not hear on the LP version. Could be a tambourine.

I finally got around to an A/B comparison of this song, and yes I hear the
percussion in the 45 mix. Sounds like maracas shaking. |
