This one missed the top 40 by a few notches in late
1999. Does a promo CD exist? CHR played a couple of versions. Edited by prisdeej |

I do have a promo CD for "Sexual," and here are the details:
TBCD2031 1. Thunderpuss 2000 Radio Edit (listed 3:47; actual 3:46) 2. Original Radio Edit (listed 4:38; actual 4:36) The version I recall hearing on the air is track 2 from this disc, which is the same version jimct's old station played. Edited by aaronk |

Tommy Boy promoted the single twice. First time around, the original single version was promoted, produced by The Berman Brothers. Tommy Boy found resistance at radio because of the song's name (how stupid is that?). I remember Amber kvetching about it, even mentioning that when Marie Osmond had her on her show, she refused to say the name of the song, referring to the only as only Li-Da-Di. This was a grown woman with kids. Second time around, the Thunderpuss 2000 Radio Edit was promoted as the single version. The single was not commercially re-released, but Tommy Boy pressed more copies of the commercial single. I'm pretty sure there are two different promo CDs. |

Makes sense that there would be an earlier promo CD with the original
radio edit as the lead track. If you ever stumble upon a copy, please share the catalog number with us. I do have a stock CD maxi with a drill hole in the bar code, and it has the Original Radio Edit as track 1. |

Recently I've been convinced the Thunderpuss 2000 Radio Edit was played on WKTU in 1999-2000. Plus it is shorter and a far superior mix. Anyone else remember hearing this? Should have been a top 40 hit on Billboard! |

I only ever heard the "Thunderpuss 2000 Radio Edit" on
the radio. The song just missed the Top 40 at #42. It did manage 29 weeks on the Hot 100, however. Perhaps the release of a standard CD single (it was only released on CD maxi-single) would have given the track an extra boost in sales in order to make the Top 40. (Note that it did peak at #25 sales, whereas airplay peaked at #46). |
