My commercial 45 (confirmed as Vee-Jay 585, is styrene, with deadwax info of "45 63-3723 triangle-51253-X") has a listed time of (2:14) and an actual time of (2:12). I only post this info because the many current database CDs that include this song feature run times ranging from (2:08) to (2:15).

Your Styrene Vee-Jay 45 is also a Monarch pressing. The East Coast 45's are vinyl except for Columbia made ones.

There are definitely two stereo mixes on CD. One sounds very clear and clean and has loads of reverb. The other one sounds lousy with lots of noise reduction, but is fairly dry. At first, I thought it was just the noise reduction shaving off the reverb, but they are two distinct mixes.

I'll make a note to grab my LP from storage the next time I'm there. I do have the stereo Vee Jay LP from 1964.

For what it's worth, the copy I have of her other big hit -- "Let It Be Me" (duet with Jerry Butler) -- is also drenched in reverb on the vocals. On the "Forever Young" CD it's a needledrop from vinyl, with an early fade to mask the surface noise. Perhaps all the copies in the database marked as being :05 to :10 shorter than the 45 or LP are also needledrops faded early?

On CD, Ace UK's Radio Gold is the best sounding Stereo
source I have heard.
