Here's an item you should be able to address without listening to more than two seconds of the song...
I noticed that the opening guitar note is primarily in the right channel on the CDs Hot Hits - Pop - Vol. 13, Now 23 (UK), and Now 1992 (UK, released 1993). I also noticed that the opening guitar note is primarily in the left channel on my TM Century CD. One of these most likely has its channels reversed. Any thoughts from those that have the CD single or Some Gave All CD? And since I'm certain this is your favorite song, I thought you should know that it's a remake. The original was done by The Marcy Brothers as "Don't Tell My Heart", the last track on the CD The Marcy Brothers (Atlantic 7 82213-2, 1991). The cover art shows three guys named Marcy, all with Richard Marx haircuts. |

While most folks still rip on Billy Ray for this song, there's no denying its status as a classic. I'll bet it still gets played frequently on jukeboxes in honky tonk bars.

I used to work for a country station, and about 5 or 6 years ago I received a copy of the national music research test conducted by Clear Channel. It showed "Achy Breaky Heart" has having the HIGHEST percentage of positive responses (I think about 85%) of any country song on the survey. But... at the same time, it also had an unbelievably high negative rating (way higher than any other song on the survey.) Of course this was before Miley became the star that she is, so maybe those negatives have since gone down.
Back to Ron's original question, I know that my wife has that CD but I haven't been able to find it. If I run across it, I'll be sure to let you know. |

I have the Billy Ray Cyrus Some Gave All CD on Mercury 314510635. The opening guitar note of "Achy Breaky Heart" is primarily heard in the right channel on this disc. So evidently, the channels somehow got reversed when Mercury mastered the promo CD single!

my commercial cassingle issued as mercury 866522 does not state a version on the cassingle nor sleeve but lists a run time of 3:23 and is identical to the full length cd/lp version.....both my cassingle and the version from the below cd
(S) (3:23) Mercury 314510635 Some Gave All has the first note clearly in the right channel.... |
