Yes, the LP just fades earlier.

FYI so far I've only found one mix on this song, the mono DJ copies appear to be a fold down of the stereo, on all copies that I have
the level dips slightly as the final chorus starts, as if the mixer realized that the song was building to be too loud. The 45s that I have, mono and stereo, all sync up to the same speed and fade out completely at the same point (it's very low for a while at the end and the audio just cuts out.. or stops. you have to crank it to hear that). The Greatest Hits Vinyl is slightly slower, I don't have the original album but I do have the CD of that album, which runs a little faster than the 45. So there are speed differences but they probably weren't on purpose. Side note: I always found it entertaining that the vinyl was titled "Greatest Hits Volume 1", and of course they took off the "Volume 1" notation in the CD era. Edited by Bill Cahill |

I should note that some later pressings of the stock 45 fade at 2:52 like the LP. I was very annoyed by that when I pulled one for reference.
I can provide deadwax#'s if needed. MM |

Ok my bad. When i posted my (2:52) time I had only
listened to the fade on my own 45 dub at regular volume. After a buddy sent me his (2:57) timed copy, I realized you have to turn up the end a bit to hear it. It's pretty apparent that the intended length was 2:52 as the normal balanced fade ends there, then the music moves over mostly to the left channel and a "bleed" of the music continues at the same volume from 2:52 to 2:57 when the tape runs out. But since music is audible, the actual time is (2:57) and so is my copy. Edited by MMathews |
