can anyone tell me which was the original label issued when
this song made the charts.....i see on ebay that the london
international label came in a red background with black and
white lettering....and then there is another label that has
a silver or tan background with red and black
lettering.....which one was most common during this songs
one week stint on the billboard charts.....thx edtop40

Ed, pre-Internet, it was quite difficult for me to track down a non-pricey,
nice condition, original commercial 45 for this song, post-1964, given
collectors who seek both "Beatles Related" and "novelty" items, and the fact
that it just squeaked into the national Top 40 as a current. But I eventually
got one. My commercial 45 copy is on the tan/gold label (not silver, buddy -
freudian slip?) :) The words/insignia "London International" appears in red
ink, while the song title/artist details appear in black ink. But perhaps Paul
Haney could share the details for the copy at RR, just to be sure, since Mr.
Whitburn surely acquired his copy of the song back in 1964. I believe it was
the only 45 on that label to ever reach the BB Top 40. Therefore, how can we
really determine what the label's "definitive design" was? Did it really exist
long enough (1962-64) to really even have one?

My commercial 45, confirmed as London International 10614, with deadwax
info of "LONDON INTL", followed a more lightly-written "10614A", and then,
finally, machine-stamped deadwax of "J 1032-1B", has a listed time of
(2:18), but an actual time of (2:23).

My copy has the tan label with the logo and all the writing in red. I just got my copy of Three Decades Of Classic Novelty Hits, and the 'screaming' noises on my 45 are not exactly the same as on the CD. I noticed a couple of differences immediately: On my 45, the screaming starts later than on the CD. Also, on my 45 the opening screams have stopped once the girls start singing, but on the CD the screams continue for a bit after the singing starts.
