Paul, I know it's your job and all, but I wanted to thank both you and RR
personally, for making this new, first-time-100%-accurate, Cash Box
charts book available to us. For many people (like Pat himself, for
example), Cash Box was the research publication of choice. And there was
already much archived info out there. But it was simply riddled with both
numbering errors and bad information. So when people hear that "The
Cash Box chart info has now gotten the RR Treatment", it is nothing to
scoff at. The "Paul Haney fine tooth research comb" has now been used.
Such research is very tedious work. And it takes forever. Lucky for us, a
few brave souls, like Paul, both enjoy this type of project, and have a
special knack for incredible accuracy, to the Nth degree.

Paul, I know you've been Mr. Whitburn's "go to RR research guy", for some
time now. He's very lucky to have you. (And we're all very lucky to have
you here regularly on the Board, as well.) And that you basically did all of
the research for this new Cash Box book yourself. And it wasn't just about
adding, deleting and correcting existing chart info. It meant him totally
re-researching all of the original Cash Box charts. From the actual
magazines. To guarantee 100% data accuracy, Paul also had to re-confirm
*every* bit of existing data. Nothing could be assumed by Paul to already
be correct. And trust me, it takes *every* bit as long for an ace researcher
like Paul to confirm that what was already there was correct, as it does for
him to make his many corrections. In other words, Paul may as well have
just started his RR Cash Box chart research for this book from scratch....

Can't wait to get my copy, Paul. I also always appreciate that RR offers the
pre-order discount. I buy every new RR book that way. Hope it's a huge
seller for RR. Now please, go take a well-deserved research vacation,
buddy!    :)

Yeah, and as soon as you get back, Paul, start on the next book! :)

I'm thinking Radio & Records Pop charts!

After all, it would be the RR R&R book.

And if you think of "Pop" as "Rock 'n Roll" (after all, some people think of it that way), that would make it the:

RR R&R R&R book!!

(RRRRRR for short)

Jim, thanks for the kind words. BTW, all back orders have now been shipped! Now it's on to the Cash Box Looking Ahead charts...and yes, we're researching ALL the titles, not just the non-Billboard hits this time.

Stay tuned...

I got my copy a couple of days ago. Still thumbing through it. Noticed the Zombies had two number ones on this chart versus Billboard. Like Jim said above, this is a nice addition for us collectors.

Haven't received mine yet, but, yeah, there were tons of songs that were #1 in Cash Box that only made #2 in Billboard.

For the #1 chronological listing in the back of the book, we show a special symbol for those titles that didn't hit #1 in Bllboard. There are 234 such titles!
