although not in the db the dinah shore song 'i'll never
say never again' did peak at number 24 in 1957......the question is.....does any cd contain the correct 45 version.....the 45 starts off with 3 cymbal taps before the horns kick in.....the cdr version i have starts with the horns...any info would be welcomed.... |

Ed, I found what appears to be an extremely complete, worldwide CD
release discography for her, on dinahshorefanclub.com. Thankfully, track listings are included for each of the 24 listed CDs. (Any V/A CDs that feature tracks by her, are not included on this site.) Just *one* of the CDs shown there lists this track: "36 All-Time Greatest Hits". A 1999, 3-CD budget priced set, on GSC/Timeless Music 15462. Ed, I know you quickly re-sell your CDs, once you've downloaded your desired, Top 40-peaking tracks to your computer. And that you don't ever remember which CD you used to create your CDR files. While this system clearly works for you, it has made it much harder for me to help you, on numerous occasions. Like here. And when you add additional specifics, like "I want the '3 cymbal taps intro', like my 45 has", as opposed to the "horn intro" version on your CDR (which you don't want), it then devolves into a total guessing game for me. Here's why. Your CDR files are of "unknown origin". Therefore, I can't eliminate *any* CD sources I find for it. I've just ordered the GSC 3-CD set. Even though it's 95%+ gonna have your unwanted "horn intro" on it. But what choice do I have? I want the 45s 3-cymbal-taps-intro, too. But I can't be sure which intro is actually on there until I receive it. This song isn't in Pat's db at all. Maybe your CDR file came from a V/A comp. Or from a CD I'm not aware of. So I can't dismiss the GSC CD quite yet. Ed, don't get me wrong. I very much appreciate you bringing this song's intro difference to light. And you know I always do my very best to help you. But, going forward, could you please consider making a personal note of exactly which CD your personal "CDR files" came from? Such info would've really come in handy for me here. I'm obviously not expecting anyone else on the board to own this GSC piece. But if anyone does happen to, could they please give it a quick listen, and see what intro is included? It would save me both a few bucks, and some research time, and help out our hard-working buddy Ed as well. Edited by jimct |
