I found the mono single edit of "Light My Fire" a few months ago on an out-of-print UK CD Single that was issued at the time Oliver Stone's "The Doors" movie was released.

It's Electra EKR125CD, 7559-66533-2. It contains:

1. Light My Fire (mono edit) 2:55
2. Light My Fire (LP) 7:06
3. People Are Strange (stereo) 2:10
4. Soul Kitchen (stereo) 3:30

And the UK CD is the correct single edit, unlike the US BackTrax CD single, which contains a stereo edit that doesn't quite have the right edit points.

Is this version slightly sped up like the 45? If it is - you have the "hit" from 1967...

Bob
Just give me the hits...

By golly, it is! I never noticed that before. Thanks, Bob.

I'm listeting to the LOONG verison, and it';s starting to get inot the closing of the instrumental break (which is also slightly eidted like the four minutes takne out.)

I have the short verison from another site an dthe long version on LP and WinMX Mp3 download.

The long-avaible "2:52"* single on Elektra's SpunGold is the same as the single regaridng the frequently disucssed long imporvised trip-rock solo (there goes that four minute section!) BUT as in the ORIGINAL June 3,1967 hit single release much slower like the LP (only with four trippy minutes now gone!) and with the "Doo-Doo-DOOOOO" guitar solo intact (it;s cut out two p-laces more to nonexistence on the ORIGINAL single).

*"2"%2:3:06's more like it on the reissue.
You know you're really older when you think that younger singer Jesse McCartney's related in anyway to former Beatle Paul McCartney.

The original mono single edit with the original mono B side of Crystal Ship has been released as part of a new Rhino Digital 45 series. Available at I Tunes, Rhapsody, and I'm sure other music download sites. It sounds like the right version to me.

Can anyone post the actual time of the 45? I have 3
versions of the 45 edit, 2 in mono and 1 in stereo and
they are all at different speeds running 2:50, 2:52 and
2:53.
Thanks
