I recently purchased an Edgar Winter CD not in the database called The Edgar Winter Anthology. It was released in 1995 on Sony Music Special Products 18464 and it contains the following Top 40 hits:
FRANKENSTEIN (LP version) (S) (4:43) FREE RIDE (LP version) (S) (3:06) RIVER'S RISIN' (I believe this is the LP version, but the run time is :10 longer than on the other CD containing the LP version listed in the database. Does anyone know the vinyl LP run time?) (S) (3:28) |

Hi Todd,
I'm a big fan of the song "River's Risin'". How does the Anthology version end? Andy |

Andrew:
From the 3:07 to 3:18 mark, the verse "it's just around the bend" is sung a total of four times before teasing a false ending. Then from 3:18 to 3:28, a thunderous sound effect is heard to officially close out the song. I'm wondering if this closing sound effect was simply left off the LP version on Edgar Winter's Shock Treatment CD (Epic 32461). But then it begs the question... Does the :10 sound effect appear at the end of the song on the original Shock Treatment vinyl LP release? Edited by Todd Ireland |

That sound effect is the beginning of the next song "Animal" on my vinyl LP 'Shock Treatment'.

Well, I'll be darned... Apparently, the audio engineer who mastered this Anthology CD didn't know the song well enough to know it should've been faded out before the thundering sound effect occurs since the thunder marks the beginning of the next track on the Shock Treatment LP! If and when this CD gets updated in the database, this mastering error should be duly noted.
