Before we put this one to rest for good, there is only one other change that will need to be made in the database. We never stated a run time for the "Two Tribes Remix," which actually runs 3:14. The database says that it runs 3:37. To summarize, here are the versions:
LP Version - 3:37 "Remix" from commercial CD single - 3:13 "Two Tribes Remix" aka "Pop Radio Remix" - 3:14 By the way, my Promo Only CD is from July 2001. Since they always produce their discs at the end of the previous month, the "Two Tribes Remix" would likely have been done sometime in June 2001 or prior. |

I was just listening to this track, and something occurred to me. Paul C says that the official CD single with the similar remix didn't come out until late November, near the end of its chart run on US top 40 radio. Is it possible that the "Two Tribes Mix" was some sort of bootleg remix that started getting passed around to various radio stations? Then, as the song climbed the charts, Reprise made their own "Remix" to mimic as closely as possible the hit remix? Just a theory, but it would explain why 1) the CD single didn't come out until the song had nearly run its course, and 2) why the mixes are slightly different.
For the record, the two remixes have completely different drum tracks, but they are similar to each other. |

Different remix, same people behind it. KIIS L.A. DJ Christian B and his musical partner Marc Dold were known as the Swiss American Federation or S.A.F. They created the unauthorized remix in April of 2001 and it quickly spread to other radio stations. When it hit Z100 in June, the record exploded, and Enya, her producer Nicky Ryan, and Reprise officially approved of the mix. It went for CHR/Top 40 adds on July 7, with a review in Billboard Mag, but it was never meant to be released as a commercial single. Then 9/11 happened and you know the rest. Reprise decided to issue it as a CD single with proceeds gong to different relief charities, it then that the S.A.F. redid the remix to make it sound more "professional". But of course, no radio station bothered to touch it. Edited by radiofan16 |

Even though it's not listed in the database, the 'remix'
is available at Amazon as an exclusive. The Very Best Of Enya (Deluxe) (Amazon Exclusive) |
