The database currently states the following comment regarding Aerosmith's "Falling in Love (Is Hard on the Knees)":
(dj copies of this cd single featured a rock radio mix (4:00), a top 40 mix (3:20) and the LP version (3:24)) Edtop40 informs me his commercial CD single copy runs 3:30, so I thought I'd pass this along as a supplement to the DJ info above. I don't know what accounts for the :06 time difference between the stock CD single and the LP version, but I will attempt to look into this and report back with my findings. |

Todd, I recently became curious about the different mixes available and obtained a Columbia Promo CD single (CSK 9412). On mine...
Track 1 - The Rock radio mix, listed as 3:24, runs 3:22. Track 2 - The Top 40 mix, listed as 3:22, runs 3:20. Track 3 - The album version, listed as 3:25, runs 3:24. |

Oh, to add, to me, tracks 1 and 2 sound the same. Despite being a promo single, it is not censored and still says "ass in a sling."

well...upon further review......my commercial cd single actually runs 3:25 or maybe even 3:24, because the fade is so subtle.....the 3:30 run time is what shows up when you put the cd single into the computer......my mistake fellas......i'm usually pretty precise, but i must have been asleep when asked about this one.....

One way to find out subtle mix differences is to drop them both into the multi-tracker, layered so that they line up exactly, and invert one of them. As long as they run at the exact same speed, the parts that are identical will cancel, and you'll be left with what's different.

The only single format in which I have this song is the U.S. commercial 7-inch single. There are at least two differences between it and the track on my Canadian Nine Lives CD. The 7-inch single does not have the studio talk and count off before the song starts and, unlike on the CD, the 'f' word at about (1:20) is censored. I timed the 7-inch single at (3:21) but because of the subtle fade Ed pointed out it may actually be a second or two longer.

I was able to spot at least one mix difference between the "Rock" and "Top 40" mixes. During the last chorus of the "Top 40 Mix" there is a guitar overdub that is not present in the "Rock Mix."

Good catch, Aaron.
And Paul C is right... The LP version of "Falling in Love..." does contain the "f" word at 1:21 on the promo CD single (though it's somewhat buried behind the loud guitars). Perhaps Ed or anyone else who has a U.S. commercial single copy could let us know whether or not it contains the "f" word. |

Ed was kind enough to send me a dub of his "Falling in Love" commmercial CD single copy. After performing a direct A/B comparison, I've concluded that the single and album version are 100% identical and both are uncensored.

on my commercial cd single which runs 3:25, the "f" word is indecipherable because of the guitars...unless someone on the board pointed it out, i wouldn't have known what it was....so it could be uncensored or censored
