According to the database, CD appearances of Lynn Anderson's "Rose Garden" run anywhere from 2:45 to 2:55 and there are currently no associated comments that help explain or account for the wide run time range. Does anyone have "Rose Garden" on vinyl 45 or the parent LP who can pass along the song's run time info? I'm curious to know if there is a length, edit, or speed difference between the 45 and LP.

My commercial 45, which is mono, has a listed time of (2:52) and an actual time of (2:53).

Thought I'd revive this thread since the database was never updated to reflect that the actual 45 and LP run time for "Rose Garden" is 2:53. Given the song's wide range of CD run times, this info is helpful to those of us trying to track down the correct length on CD.

Today I picked up the DJ copy on Rose Garden by Lynn Anderson which has a mono and stereo side. I also have the stock copy which is mono. All sides list a time of 2:52.

My timing on the mono DJ and the stock 45 comes in at 2:54.

My timing on the stereo DJ side is 2:56. You can immediately hear why it's longer, it's noticably slower in pitch but fades at the same point as the mono side. It's just longer due to the speed difference.

The proper fade on these 45 versions has Lynn singing a full "I Beg Your Pardon, I Never Promised You A Rose Garden" at the very end. Crank it up and you can hear it. She finishes the sentence. Then silence.

On 16 Biggest Hits CD song fades like this.."I Beg Your Pardon I Never Promised You.."

On Rhino's Super Hits of the 70's Volume 4 it fades even before that last "I Beg Your Pardon".(not a very good master either)

I don't have the LP but it would seem to be a speed and fade issue.

BUT WAIT.. THERE'S MORE!

I thought I was done with this until I pulled out my mono CBS Hall of Fame Reissue. THAT one fades "I Beg Your Pardon I Never Promised You a Rose..."

Now THAT would be 2:53 as stated earlier in this thread.

FYI The 2:54 version I have on the DJ and stock has the etching of 1-C in the trail.

Do the stereo versions on CD match the speed on the mono side, or are they slow like the stereo side? (IOW, which do I have to
adjust to get the proper promo 45 speed and proper stereo stock 45 speed?)
