Even though not listed in the database, picked up a 'Spun Gold' 45 on this one b/w "Freak-A-Zoid." Only dubbed "No Parking On The Dance Floor" since I already had the 45 version of "Freak-A-Zoid."
Listed time for No Parking is 3:59; actual is 4:05. Deadwax is: STE-65990-A2. |

Great record! I think a recent "best of" comp included all the 45 versions, but I can't say for sure since I only own the longer mixes of their "hits."

My 45 of "No Parking On The Dance Floor" is just an early fade of the LP version.
I would love to find the 45 versions of "Freak-A-Zoid" and "Midas Touch" on CD. A long time ago, I tried recreating "Freak-A-Zoid" from the LP version and came close, but there were some additional or different vocals toward the end on the 45 that were not on the LP. Has anyone found the true 45 versions of these songs on CD? |

Aaron:
I have the Anniversary Collection and the run time on that CD is around 4:27 vs the 45 which runs 4:05. |

Hmmm...I wonder if that Anniversary Collection CD is the one I was thinking of. Again, my speculation that they had the 45 versions was only based on the track list times being significantly shorter than the LP versions and 12" versions. Perhaps there's a bunch of "neither" versions on there!

According to Pat's database, at least "Operator" on that collection is the 45 version. After Roscoe's post, I faded the version on the Anniversary Collection to 4:05.
Wish I knew that BEFORE I bought the 45! LOL. |

The Anniversary Collection does not have the 45 versions of Freak-A-Zoid or Midas Touch. |

Roscoe & eriejwg, thanks for saving me money. I won't be picking this one up, since it's abundant with wrong versions!

I have the 2006 CD reissue of "No Parking On The Dance Floor." The song on this CD runs 4:24, and it's almost 2% faster than the 45 dub I have. The 45 I have is not an early fade of my CD version; however, they match up to about the 3:30 mark. After the repeated "don't park your booty / don't part your can" section, the 45 goes into different choruses than my CD copy. Is my CD, perhaps, a "neither" version? Or is the 45 really not an early fade of the LP version? Or, as a third possibility, are there two 45 versions? |

I think I may have just answered my own question. I found a copy of "No Parking" on a Solar 20th Anniversary compilation, and it does not match the 2006 remastered CD. I think it's safe to conclude that my full-length CD does not contain the LP version.
The 2006 disc is a mess, plagued with excessive noise reduction. "No Parking" on that disc is one of the few that doesn't have NR, but instead it sounds like a high generation tape--which is not the correct version. Roscoe, if the copy on the 20th Anniversary CD is the true LP version, then yes, the 45 is merely an early fade of the LP version. |
