Don't know if this has been covered, but my commercial single of this song clocks in at 3:58, although the label states the time as 4:41. This suggests that it is the commercial 45 that is 3:58 and not the DJ version. Thus, the 4:41 would be the LP version. Can anyone confirm this?

Yes Robert I can also confirm that my commercial 45 states a running time of (4:41) but actually runs (3:57) while the dj copy states a running time of (3:56) but actually runs (3:57) so there is a 45 version and an LP version.

There are both 3:58 and 4:41 stock 45s. I have both in my collection. The pressing from Specialty Records of Olyphant, PA, with the letters (SP) on the label, contains the short version. A pressing I have that came from Monarch in California, with the letters (MO) on the label, contains the full LP version.

Thinking about this a little further....... With the LP version also being the 2nd 45 version.....
Should the datebase state the following for the two different versions: 3:58 = Short 45 version 4:41 - Long 45 and LP version Just a thought. -Jeff |

Yes, correct.
3:58 is the first 45 single issue. 4:41 is second and later pressings. |

While it has already been confirmed that both (3:57) and (4:41) stock 45
lengths were issued for this song in 1978, I don't believe the same is true for the promo 45. Both the mono/stereo sides of my promo 45 has a listed time of (3:56) and an actual time of (3:57). My actual timings match up exactly with Pat's stock & promo 45 timings. Does anyone own a promo 45 that includes the (4:41) length version on it? |

Like so many, I am mourning the loss of Betty White, and wondering how I can justify playing this song on my all-80s station since it was used (re-recorded) as the theme for the 80s hit show "Golden Girls."
My search didn't turn up any evidence, but does anybody know if the success of the Golden Girls show put either Andrew Gold's version or the Cynthia Fee re-recording for the theme song back onto the Hot 100 (or any other chart, for that matter)? |
