Can anyone tell me where the edit points are on this single or send an mp3 of the single edit?

Sometimes I try guessing or making my own attempt when I don't have the version, but I couldn't even figure out a way to shorten that 27-second intro.

LOL!

Maybe Tavares knew what was coming next when they created a 6+ minute recording!

Pat - With John's help, I compared the 45 with the CD/album, and though you say "45 version" in the database, it seems to me the 45 is just an early fade of the LP. Can you explain why you list this as "version"? (Maybe there's a mix element difference?)(The 45 doesn't seem to be edited, as every section lines up with the LP until the last moment of the fade.)

The LP designation is completely due to the fact that the LP appearance runs about 2:45 longer than the 45 thus I made a subjective call to classify this as an LP version.

WOH - THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING! I thought you always reserved "length" for a single that simply faded before the album's recording, whether it faded 10 seconds early or 3 minutes early, and that "version" was reserved for edits or mix differences.

Pat, Are you saying that some of the entries in the database that say "version" are actually just faded early?

Maybe if the last 2:45 of this song faded into another song that was part of a 2-song medley (kind of like the way Melissa Manchester's "My Boyfriend's Back/Runaway" does on the album - but the single is just "My Boyfriend's Back"), I could understand this approach, sort of. But other than those cases, I didn't realize you were using the word "version" for certain "lengths".

Personally, I think in this case, as well as other disco cases where the album just might run 2 minutes longer, that it's best to call this "single length". Then I can simply look at the time listed as 3:30 and fade accordingly. By listing this is as "version", I have to buy the 45 on the net or trouble someone to record their 45 and then send it to me, when I can just do a simple fade.

This has been discussed many times previously in other threads and there seems to be about a 50-50 split in opinion on this situation. Since I started with this designation many years ago, it would be a nightmare to unwind.
