That's a very impressive list of Billy Joel 45 run times, abagon. Thanks for providing it for us!

As for commercial single run times for Joel's '70s and '90s hits... Jim has gone through and timed nearly every Top 40 vinyl 45 that existed in the '70s and he has reported the printed and actual run times whenever there's a significant difference between them (usually :03 or more). Other folks (especially Ed) have covered commercial single run times for '90s Top 40 hits pretty thoroughly, so I'd say we now have timing info for the vast majority of Billy Joel's hits accounted for. But, hey, if anyone wants to share all of Billy Joel's actual 45 run times with us, be our guest!

One thing I caught on the list...

Abagon, you indicate a 3:34 run time for "The Longest Time" on your commercial 45. On another thread, Ed reports a 3:37 time on his 45 copy. So do we have two different pressings here?

Thank you for your responses, Todd.

I recorded "The Longest Time"(45 and LP) into my PC from my turntable again. and I have disposed of the record noises using my software "Clean 3.0". I listened to carefully. My 45 running time is surely "3:34".
This track of my US issue LP "An Innocent Man" runs "3:36". This 45 finishes "Oh Oh Oh" at "3:34". I couldn't listen to the next "for the longest time" at megavolume with big speakers too.

Can the LP versions of both "You're Only Human (Second Wind)" and "The Night Is Still Young" be edited to create the 45 versions?

Does anyone know the edit points?

Thanks.

-Jeff

I don't, but I will try to send dubs your way as soon as I have a
chance.

Hey Aaron,

Not to worry about these. I was able to replicate the 45s that I dubbed... Thanks again to your excellent editing teaching skills.
