I don't think this has ever been nailed down for sure on the Chat Board, but
does the cassette single have the 3:34 edit, or the 3:54 LP version? I guess the same question should be asked about the CD single. |

The promo CD has both the 3:34 & 3:54 versions.
What's the difference on the "AC mix", is it the same as the edit, or is it actually remixed? |

To expand further on Hykker's question... Does the 3:34 edit of "Come to My Window" simply chop off the first :21 of the LP intro where Melissa Etheridge slowly and softly sings the song's chorus and instead begin at the point where the synthesizer and guitar first kicks in? The latter intro is what I remember hearing on the radio and when I edit out the first :21 of the LP intro digitally, it does bring the song's length to 3:34. But the question remains as to whether there are there mix differences as well?

Thanks to some assistance from one of my right-hand Top 40 music compadres Edtop40, I can confirm that the cassette single of Melissa Etheridge's "Come to My Window" has an actual and printed run time of 3:55.
By the way, on two database CDs the song runs 3:34 which matches the length of the short edit on the promo CD single. Chances are these discs in question consist of the DJ edit, but can anyone confirm with 100% certainty? And I'm 99% positive the 3:34 edit is the same as the single/album version minus the :21 soft vocal intro, but can anyone verify this as well? |

the A/C mix of “i want to come over” is a remix so it stands to reason
that the A/C mix of “come to my window” is as welll....can anyone confirm? |

A little later on answering, but here's the info on the promo CDs:
PRCD 6803-2 1. Edit (listed & actual 3:34) 2. Album Version (listed & actual 3:55) The "Edit" simply removes the slow opening and starts the song at 0:21 of the Album Version. Everything else is the same. PRCD 6816-2 1. A/C Mix (listed & actual 3:56) 2. Lite Mix (listed & actual 3:56) 3. Edit (listed & actual 3:34) 4. Album Version (listed & actual 3:55) The A/C Mix is, indeed, a remix that removes the electric guitar from the mix and drastically lowers the drums and percussion. There are other mix differences, but those are the most obvious. The Lite Mix not only strips out the electric guitar, but it completely removes the drums throughout the entire song. Additionally, the bass guitar is removed during the slow intro. |

Yeah, the A/C an Lite music strip the song of its power
so to speak. It's the driving beat of the LP and edit that compliments Melissa's voice and drives the song along. Too bad. This is one of those songs that should be left as is. |

As another data point, "Come to My Window"
was released on 45 in the U.S. and it features the 3:34 edit version. My dub to CD plays 3:32, but it wouldn't surprise me if the 45 faded slightly early. Edited by TimNeely |
