The database indicates that the LP version of Christina Aguilera's "Come on Over (All I Want Is You)" runs 3:08 on her self-titled CD (RCA 67690). However, the song is shown with a 3:24 time on her Keeps Gettin' Better - A Decade of Hits CD (RCA 737193), but there is currently no mention of which version this is. The song runs 3:23 on my Promo Only Mainstream Radio CD subscription series, which leads me to believe this might very well be the 45 version. So can anyone verify if the 45 version is on the Keeps Gettin' Better disc?

Thanks, Ed. Since the 3:40 "Video Version" on the commercial CD single doesn't match up time-wise with the 3:23 length on the Keeps Gettin' Better CD or my Promo Only disc, I did a little more digging and came across some promo CD single info for "Come on Over" that may hold the key to solving this mystery. Here is the DJ CD track listing and printed run times:

(RCA RDJ602852)
1) RADIO VERSION (3:23)
2) ALTERNATE RADIO EDIT (3:23)
3) VIDEO VERSION (3:40)

Could someone who has this or any other promo CD single release for "Come on Over" please pass along the actual run times? It would sure seem chances are extremely high the version on the Keeps Gettin' Better CD is either the "Radio Version" or "Alternate Radio Edit", but it may involve some additional analysis to determine which one.

Todd, I own the RDJ 60285-2 you reference above, and here are the actual times:

1-(listed & actual 3:23)
2-(listed & actual 3:23)
3-(listed 3:40; actual 3:39)

Also, soon afterward RCA sent us a CD-R for the song, with the same track structure as the above promo, and in a standard jewel case. But this CD-R includes two large, handwritten "Enhanced Radio EQ" declarations on it - one on a pink, different-from-the-other-promo front paper insert, and the other was written on the paper label affixed to the disc itself.

Pat:

Thank you for updating the database to show which version of "Come on Over (All I Want Is You)" is on the Keeps Gettin' Better - A Decade of Hits CD (RCA 737193). The comment for that CD currently states: "45 version known as the 'radio version'". Just as a point of clarification, however, shouldn't that comment actually state "DJ edit known as the 'Radio Version'" since commercial single copies of "Come on Over" feature the "Video Version" running 3:40? (It appears the same change will also need to be made for the comment next to the song's appearance on the Today's Superstars CD (Sony BMG Music Entertainment Custom Marketing Group 735282).

I don't personally own a copy, but the cassette single release does state "RADIO version" and a run time of 3:23:

Based on this the 3:23 is the official hit version. I would call the 3:40 a promo version since it appears on a CD, but radio always played the 3:23.

I can't recall the consensus cutoff for the cassette single being the "official" single version. At some point around this time, though, Pat considers the 2-track CD single to be the "hit" version, which is why Todd and Ed are referencing the "Video Version" as the hit (lead track on 2-track stock CD single).

I have this cd single and the radio stations in my area played the video version.
I myself preferred the video version of the song over the album version which
lacked punch.

The fact is both appear on CD singles and both got airplay. I agree the video version is better, but the album version Ron S was 3:09 and lacked a lot of what made the 3:40 such a massive hit.

The 3:23 is the cassette hit version Aaron. That is why I say the 3:23 is the hit and the 3:40 is also a hit, but a promo hit version.

https://www.discogs.com/Christina-Aguilera-Come-On-Over-Baby -All-I-Want-Is-You/release/6508025

The US cd promo single contains both and the video version has its own single:

https://www.discogs.com/Christina-Aguilera-Come-On-Over-Baby -All-I-Want-Is-You/release/2263239

https://www.discogs.com/Christina-Aguilera-Come-On-Over-Baby -All-I-Want-Is-You/release/2725424

So I would consider both to be the hit versions, but I would label the 3:40 the promo. The 3:23 even says "Radio Version" on it.
