Looking for an OBSCURE single or album from 1979 - 1980. The group was called Pendulum, the single was called Gypsy Spirit, and the album was called Just B!+@hin'. (Except of course they didn't use symbols in the title.) :)

It was released on Venture Records, V-131 and the B-side was called Movin' Day.

"Gypsy Spirit" managed to make it to #89 on the Billboard Hot 100 on November 29th, 1980... then was gone before Christmas.

Anybody have a copy of this song, digital or from a clean analog source? I've only been able to locate this video with the video producer's info over the opening: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5pxWQTinmu4

PM if you have any leads for me. People on this board have been so good at pointing me in the right direction; I'm hoping someone can come through for me again. This would be PERFECT for our 80s Halloween playlist!

Hi Gene,

I own the song on mp3. It is a pretty clean dub. Let me know how to get it to you to hear it.

Thanks for your help, Andy. This is a fascinating record to me! The eq is all-kinds of strange, in particular because it really bumps up the upper bass / lower midrange giving it a "boxy" sound... can't help but wonder if some well-meaning producer thought it would sound better that way on small radio speakers, or something. :)

It's amazing to me that a song that managed to make it to the hot 100 at all could disappear nearly completely in 30 years. The label even released a greatest hits... and it wasn't on the collection! (I hadn't heard of ANY of the other songs; what were they qualifying as being a "hit," I wonder?)
