I timed my U.S. commercial 45 of "If You Gotta Make A Fool Of Somebody" by James Ray (Caprice 110) at (2:00), as the label indicates. The song runs (1:55) on the Eric CD Hard To Find 45s on CD, Vol. 10 (my copy is an earlier pressing with the song in mono). I don't detect a speed difference; the song is simply five seconds shorter on the Eric CD.

I see that Pat currently has a notation error for this song. My commercial 45
copy, confirmed as Caprice 110, has the exact same listed & actual timing info as Paul C's report above does. But Paul had also brought up a (1:55) actual timing for a CD source of his. But somehow, that CD's (1:55) timing turned into a db note stating "the actual 45 running time is (1:55)", when it is not. As Paul had indicated, the 45's run time is (2:00). |
