My commercial 45 copy, also confirmed as Dot 16066 with machine-
stamped deadwax of "MW 13954 - I1", and also with a listed time of
(3:20), has an actual time of (3:25).

While it obviously always pleases me most when I can exactly match up a
45's time to an existing CD's time (easiest for everybody!), I've always
used the very best equipment, and taken extreme care to provide both Pat
and everyone here with consistently accurate 45 timings.

And if that means my info ends up creating a less perfect "45/CD time
sync", which may then require additional research, then so be it.
Personally, I try every day to resist the natural human inclination to be
lazy about getting to the bottom of a song's story, and to prematurely end
research. Every so often, I'll read a post that says, "I hear (or still hear) no
45/CD difference - you guys agree with me, right?" Even after I've read
compelling evidence to the contrary, presented by some of our top
T4MOC experts. I always like to go where the research and the facts take
me. If I ever want to be "lobbied", I'll move to Washington DC!     :)

I do understand "I really wanna cross this song off my list"-itis. There are
so just many songs some on here deal with. On the other hand, Pat's db
has become such a respected repository for good info. And it got that way
through lots of careful, correct, quality research. But I do think that we all
owe it to each other to always use a 100% properly calibrated turntable,
and to *never* BS ourselves with an incorrect opinion of "I know my
turntable's speed is perfect, because I want it to be, and I decided 10
years ago that it forever will remain spot on." A chain is only as strong as
its weakest link. And that's exactly how bad info can get into Pat's db -
one single, innocent error in judgment.

As a researcher myself for many years now, I've learned two things for
sure: 1) You can never allow yourself to be in too big of a hurry to be
"done" researching - it isn't done until *all* the research is done. 2) Or to
be a carpenter who uses the wrong (or defective) tools. Because that's
when all the mistakes occur - even ones we don't even realize we're
making, in the case of malfunctioning equipment.

Thanks for reading, friends!
