Looking at the database, I see some of the entries listed as having a truncated fade, but they all appear to be within about a second or so of each other in length.

Are the lengths listed wrong, or the fades differently shaped, or...?

The full-length Terence Trent D'Arby CD, Introducing The Hardline... truncates the fade. Any masterings based on Introducing would also truncate the fade.

The promo CD single uses the same analog transfer as Introducing, but does not truncate the fade and extends about a second or two longer to a proper fade. Billboard Top Hits 1988 also extends out to a proper fade past the end of Introducing.

There's a lot of crap on the radio, but there's only one Crap From The Past.

So, this is another case where the single length is longer than the LP length?

Remember when you were a kid and dropped food on the floor? We
had something called the "5 second rule." Heck, some of us may still
live by that rule. Well, I'd say a similar rule applies here. Less than 5
seconds, it's like it never happened :)
