Almost his lowest charting solo release, Glenn Frey's
"Livin' Right" (1989) is listed on the single and the promo as a remix. Listing a running time of 4:31 instead of 5:07 told me something was edited out... but if anybody would know if the remix has been released in digital format, I knew it would be you guys. Does anybody know if this remix is out there, either on CD or as a digital download? Thanks, as always! I'd be lost without this forum. |

Unless the 45 version of "Livin' Right" exists on an obscure import, your only bet is the one-track U.S. promo CD single. It was issued in 1989 on MCA CD45-17762, and yes, it featured the single remix. Printed time on both the commercial 45 and promo CD single was "4:28", although Discogs claims the actual time is (4:31), as you stated. Page on Discogs, complete w/ photos of both the cardboard slipcover and the disc itself: GLENN FREY - "Livin' Right" (U.S. promo CD single). Here's another copy that sold on eBay for $2.99, back on January 20 - note the seller's photo shows it in a plastic jewel case, though, which leads me to believe that somebody cut up the original slipcover on this one: GLENN FREY - "Livin' Right" (U.S. promo CD single). I found another currently available for $8.00 + shipping from a third-party seller on GEMM: GLENN FREY - "Livin' Right" (U.S. promo CD single). There was of course a commercial cassette single as well; I assume it featured the same (4:31) remix. Not sure if the (4:31) remix exists as a digital download...
What I find kind of interesting was that "Livin' Right" was actually the THIRD single from Frey's 1988 solo album, Soul Searchin'. The lead single was "True Love" (MCA 53363), which hit #13 in Billboard and #14 in Cash Box. The second single was the title track, "Soul Searchin'" (MCA 53452), which FAILED to make the pop chart in either magazine. "Livin' Right" was then tossed out as the third (MCA 53497), and like you said, it managed to scrape in at #90 in Billboard, while missing in Cash Box altogether. MCA was apparently so miffed that "Soul Searchin'" hadn't been a pop hit that they went ahead and made it the B-side of "Livin' Right" as well. Funny thing is, I remember hearing "Soul Searchin'" on the radio quite a bit back in late '88, and although I can't currently find it on YouTube, I'm pretty sure there was a video as well. Although it did hit #5 AC in Billboard, I was shocked that "Soul Searchin'" never cracked the "Hot 100" (was already buying Billboard weekly back then, so I was keeping an eye out for it). Yet best as I can recall, I never once heard "Livin' Right" anywhere, and am not aware of a video for that one, either... |

According to Wikipedia, "Livin' Right" did terribly on the
Hot 100, as you mentioned... but supposedly made it to #20 on the AC charts. (I have no copies to back this up.) **UNRELATED** You likely notice I have a ridiculously short carriage return on my posts; does anybody know how I can get my posts to extend across the page like a normal poster? |

No surprise... I think it was actually written for a commercial for Jack LaLanne Fitness Centers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i9Xbk2QNkwU Edited by Brian W. |

Gene, if you re on Google Chrome, that might be the
reason the sentences don't extend all the way across the page. I have the same issue as you can tell. |
