So which version got more airplay the CHR edit or the 7 inch? Both are on the CD promo but the CHR edit is track 1.

Favorite two expressions to live by on this board: "You can't download vinyl" and "Not everything is available on CD."

I know I never once heard the CHR Edit on the radio here in Philadelphia when it was on the charts, and there were about 3 stations that would have played the song. The CHR Edit cuts out Bobby's talking towards the end and I think many people liked the song especially for that part, where he kind of tells off his detractors, so maybe they played the longer version for that reason alone (kind of like Oran Juice Jones' "The Rain" where he tells off his cheating girlfriend at the end. Hard to imagine hearing that song without that part). I had no idea the CHR Edit even existed until it appeared on one of those JCI "Only Rock N' Roll" CD's in the 90's. Plus, I'm not 100% sure on this, but in comparing the CHR and Single edits, it sounds like the CHR Edit is simply an early fade of the Single Version. |
