I don't have a promo CD single for this, so I want to check with someone who does.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the LP version starts with a 16-beat guitar intro and runs about 3:48. I have this version on
  • Rock The First Vol. 6 (Sandstone, 1992; mastered by Steve Hoffman and is best-sounding version available)
  • Pump Up The Hits (PolyTel Canada 845096-2, 1990)
  • Hearts Of Gold The Pop Collection (Foundation CDP-96427, 1991)
I also have what appears to be the Swedish CD single for "Dangerous". Track 1 is labelled as 7" Version, and also runs 3:48 but with a 16-beat a cappella intro instead of the guitar intro. The rest of the song appears to be the same, but it's hard to tell if there are any subtle mix differences. There are five other tracks on the single, including a 6:26 "Waste Of Vinyl 12" Mix" and four live tracks.

Is this a cappella intro really the US single version? There was no vinyl 7", so this would have been the cassette single. Anyone have the promo CD single?

Jim:

Do you remember playing the version on the radio that starts with the acapella intro that Ron mentions?

I've come across a version that sounds very similiar to Ron's description of the 7" version.

John And Ron, the DPRO-4445 "Club Edit" starts with the a cappella, "Hold on tight...", while the DPRO 04516 "A/C Version" starts with the a cappella, "Oooh, you're a little bit dangerous". Those are the ONLY two a cappella intros present, for all of the combined versions. We played the "Album Version" back in 1990.

Jim - The 7" Version from my foreign CD single starts with "Hold on tight...", so it appears to be the Club Edit from DPRO-4445.

It sounds like the album version got a lot more traction from radio here in the US than the others, being "track 1" on the first promo single. I can't remember which version my station played; it seems like I repressed all the Roxette songs.

The version I have also starts out with "Hold on tight..."
Had Aaron listen to it, and it's the 7" version.

Yes, the "Hold on tight..." intro version is the one on my TM library. Based on the fact that the db has no designator, I'm guessing that the vinyl or cassette single contained the album version?

Actually, there was a US 7-inch single for this song. I have a copy.

The UK single (EMI EMI 149) and Swedish Album version of Dangerous (Look Sharp - Parlophone 7910982) start with a guitar intro and 'Oooh, just a little bit dangerous'
at 0:09 - fades out at 3:48. I suppose this match none of the US versions. The Swedish Greatest His (Don't bore us .. - EMI 8354662) has a version of 3:46 w/accapella 'Hold on tight..' at the beginning - the cover tells Single Version. In US this is probably both the Single and Album Version then?
