my commercial cassingle issued as uptown/mca 54723 contains a non-described version which runs 5:00......the cassingles' face states "original version appears on the forthcoming jodeci album uptc 10915"......the cassingle version is identical to the full length cd/lp version from the below cd

(S) (5:00) Uptown/MCA 10915 Diary Of A Mad Band

there is a "radio edit" version of this song on the uk import cd single listed as mcstd 2039 and the song runs 3:48, but it is NOT the same version as the usa commercial cassingle version........this cassingle info should be added to the db.....

Does anyone know if the radio edit of "Cry for You" running 3:48 appears on a U.S. promo CD single release? I ask because the database currently states:

dj copies of this cd single run (5:01) and (4:28) which is called the "radio version"

Todd, my promo CD single contains the following:

Jodeci-"Cry For You" (UPT5P-2797)
1-Extended Version (listed 4:58; actual 5:01)
2-Radio Version (listed 4:27; actual 4:28)
3-Instrumental (listed & actual 4:27)
4-Acappella (listed 4:58; actual 5:00)

Todd, I believe Pat's current database notation is correct, but he probably chose to make a bit of a "judgement call" here. I'll bet he simply decided to leave off the "Extended Version" notation for the (5:01) version, perhaps because it appeared as track 1 of the promo CD single, which in most cases indicates a "primary" mix for radio. And, as we've long known, extended version are rarely, if ever, placed as "track 1" on a promo CD single. For this reason, he probably gave this (5:01) version more "respect" than usual, and wanted to document the existance of this (5:01) version somehow. FYI, my notes on my jewel case for this song indicate that our station played the "Radio Version" back in 1994. To answer your question, I don't have a (3:48) version of this song on a promo CD single, but by this time I wasn't QUITE as fanatical in snaring EVERY variation of a promo CD single as I had been before, so another promo could easily exist for it, with that mix certainly included.

Thanks, Jim... Your info confirms the only promo CD single release for this song I've seen to date. It's certainly possible the 3:48 "radio edit" Ed reports may have been exclusively issued in the U.K.
