That's the only promo single I remember from the time, but I wanted to add an edit I recently uncovered.

TM Century Golddisc 4302 has the "Top 40 Mix - Clean", which takes out some of the lyrics (namely "g-d you"). Not sure if this is a label edit or not, but it sounds slick.

It definitely is a label edit, Eric. Not only is it clean, but I'm pretty sure it's a different mix than the album version. (Please correct me if I'm wrong on that.) I can't say for sure, but that promo might also contain the clean album version.

You're right - the "Top 40" mix brings down the guitars in the mix.

As for the promo disc we had, I haven't seen it in 10+ years, but it was a one-track promo (colored orange, IIRC) that only had the original version. We may have gotten it when the song was still at modern rock before crossing over to CHR.

Pat actually did add this song to the database about a week ago. The only single format in which it was commercially released in the U.S. was as a 7-inch single.

Looks like Pat has been adding a bunch of these "Airplay-only" hits to the database recently.

What a cool one hit wonder this song was...probably would have been disappointed with their follow up had they released one.

Funny you say that - I just uncovered my review of the first single from their followup album. I remember being disappointed after hoping for another "Sitta." Frankly, I hardly recall writing this or even hearing the single.

Review of 2000's "Sad Sweetheart..."

Harvey Danger had 2 other "hits" besides "Flagpole Sitta."

There was "Save It For Later" from the soundtrack to the movie 200 Cigarettes. It hit #29 on the Modern Rock Tracks chart in 1999.

"Sad Sweetheart Of The Rodeo" hit #27 on the Modern Rock Tracks chart in 2000.
