pat
the 45 states a run time of 3:37 and it indeed runs that length and the 45 is just an edit of the 3:56 full cd/lp version....this s/b noted in the db..... |

Here's another song whose original parent album is currently missing from the on-line database. "The Border" is of course off of America's 1983 album, Your Move. While the album never came out on CD here in the U.S. at the dawn of the CD era, Your Move did see a U.S. CD re-issue in 1997, on One Way 19359. Unfortunately, it's now long out-of-print, and fairly tough to find today (don't have the CD myself, although I did buy it on cassette back in '83). In fact, after initially re-issuing 1982's View from the Ground in 1996 (which Pat DOES show under the group's huge comeback hit, "You Can Do Magic", on One Way 18497), the One Way label actually re-issued the remainder of America's 1979-84 studio albums for Capitol in 1997. There aren't any copies of the U.S. CD re-issue of Your Move currently listed on eBay, but here's a used one that sold for only $4.00 + shipping about a week ago, complete w/ excellent photos: AMERICA - "Your Move" (U.S. CD)

As far as I can tell, the Border has just one edit to create the 45.
This one was a bit tricky, but using the LP version from the physical CD version of "America: The Complete Greatest Hits": Keep 0:00 to 2:27.275 Delete 2:27.275 to 2:46.100. Keep 2:46.100 to End That 19 second edit cuts it from 3:56 to 3:37. No need to touch the fade or anything else. By the way, I have a bunch of edit points for songs like this, mostly from the 80s, that I've tinkered with over the last few years. Since there seems to be an interest in these instructions (I know I'm always looking for them), I'm happy to continue to post what I have with the warning that I'm not a music professional. Editing music is just an insane hobby for me, so I'll always defer to the professionals here. But I think I can fill in some of these gaps. If you sense something off with any of these edit points, I'd appreciate it if you'd let me know. |

I just stumbled upon this song while previewing an old RPM A/C sampler. The time says 3:52, so I might play with it a bit. This is one of those that I haven't heard in so long,
I had almost forgotten it. I did manage to pull enough grey matter ganglia together long enough to get familiar with it again. If I can't edit it properly, do you still have that "Proper 45 edit" Aaron? Also, thanks for the tips JL328. |

<Dave> Someone please tell I-Heart Radio that St. Louis is not known as The Loo!
