For clarification purposes, this mono/stereo promo 45 employed the
confusing timing breakdown that RSO often did during this time. The label
says: "Intro Time :24", and then "Total Time 3:12", in bigger print, on the
next line. This is incorrect. Adding the two times together, it comes to
(3:36). I get an actual time of (3:37) on both sides. Hopefully this will avoid a
later query about a possible (3:12) promo version existing somewhere.

So is the 45 version an edit of the LP version or a unique mix?

Another 45 version that needs to be on a future CD release. I'm in no rush. I was just confirming what I already figured. Thanks.

the commercial 45 issued as rso 908 states a run time on the label as 3:39 but actually runs 3:37 and is an edit of the full length 6:26 cd/lp version.....aaron, thanks for the edit you did for me years ago!!!...thanks....

How was the single version edited? I assume the first 40
seconds of the intro were chopped and that there was a
fade of the nearly two minute instrumental outro. But,
there must be other edits as just those two would still
keep the song over four minutes.

Although Player was ultimately not a big "player" (sorry,
couldn't resist!) in music, I'm surprised that the single
edits of their three hits cannot be readily found online.
I have heard both the instrumental and vocal ending
versions of "Baby Come Back" online, but have never found
the single edits of "This Time I'm In It For Love" or
"Prisoner Of Your Love."

Hi Scanner. Your assumptions are pretty accurate. There
are a few edits to shorten the intro, and the song fades
out before the outro. There is one additional edit that
shortens one of the instrumental sections toward the end.
Also, there are subtle volume changes at the edit points
in the intro as I've noted below, so if you hear them in
your final version then you've probably cut them
correctly.

Starting with the 6:26 cd/lp version from their "Danger
Zone" album:

Keep 0.00 - 10.2 (this is the drum intro section)
Cut 10.2 - 29.95
Keep 29.95 - 32.35 (you'll hear the guitar sustain
through this section)
Cut 32.35 - 37.1
Keep 37.1 - 44.1 (in your edit, the guitar sustain ends
abruptly at the beginning edit point)
Cut 44.1 - 53.3
Keep 53.3 - 3:28.7 (in your edit, the synth jumps in
volume at the beginning edit point)
Cut 3:28.7 - 3:38.0
Keep 3:38.0 - 4:19
Fade from 4:06.5 - 4:19 (fade starts on the word "I'm"
and ends on the word "complete")

All of the edit points are on the downbeat, (or the "1"
of 1, 2, 3, 4)

Your finished edit should be 3:37. Hope this is helpful.
