I have the Top 40 hit "Dusic" by Brick on one CD - Mega Hits Dance Classics, Vol. 13 (Priority 53730), but it's mastered from a scratchy record. I'm considering purchasing either the band's Best of (Epic/Bang 66870) or Super Hits disc (Epic/Legacy 65878), but I want to first confirm that "Dusic" is mastered from a tape source on these CDs. Does anyone have a copy of either CD who can kindly give me their input?

The ones on the two CDs you mention should be from tape. I have the best of CD, but can't find it.

Todd, Brick's "Best Of" CD IS mastered from a tape source. I didn't know that the "Mega Hits Dance Classics" series went as far as Vol. 13. I thought there were only 8 to 10 volumes, so thanks for that info. I bought those years ago, with low expectations, but they surprised me sometimes, like with rare correct 45 versions (such as "Rock Your Baby".) Sounds like the later volumes may have been put together with less "Audio TLC".

Wounded bird has finally listed new CD releases for 2011 (scheduled for April 19th), including self-titled Brick album from 1977, with "Dusic" (short version with a 3:53 length)as bonus track, which might be the elusive 45 version.

Thanks, rnell! I hope this new reissue sounds better than
the 1997 CD reissue of the album.

Yes, this classic needs 10 Kilos worth of good mastering from good tapes for a very Good High. The ultimate Kilo hit. The LP sports one of the best album covers ever. You get a contact high looking at it.
I turn up the good and turn down the bad!

Is the 45 version of "Dusic" an early fade or an edit?

It's an edit. I created my own quite some time ago, but I don't remember
how many edits are contained within or where they all occur.

The edits are a little tricky too. But, the 45 version is
now on the new Wounded Bird CD reissue of their second
self-titled album.

Are you confirming that it is indeed the 45 version on that recent release? I thought the release date was next Tuesday (4/19/11).
