My dj copy of "Hypnotize Me" runs (3:57) and is an edit of the LP version. Joel Whitburn's Pop Annual book lists the running time as (3:57) so his copy of the commercial 45 must also be the same edit. Do you have a commercial 45 that runs the LP length of (4:38)?

My promo 45 has some additional lyrics not on the LP version; do I have a weird USA single?

my commercial 45 issued as gefen 28359 runs 4:38 and NOT the 4:42 the 45's face states.......it is almost the same as the version from the greatest hits cd but it has a different pitch.....maybe that why the run times are off.........it is NOT the 3:58 version.........you guys must have the promo version 45...

Andrew:

What are the additional lyrics you hear on your commercial 45 that are not present on the LP version?

Pat:

Do you hear additional lyrics on your DJ copy not found on the LP version?

Yes there are additional lyrics on the dj 45 that are not on the "Mosaic" LP. Lyrically, the dj 45 is an edit of the version found on the soundtrack to Innerspace but you will not be able to recreate at least the dj 45 from that soundtrack version because the instrumental music on Innerspace is remixed and the dj 45 is a combination of the lyrics from Innerspace and the instrumentation from "Mosaic". From the comments above I am just assuming you will not be able to recreate the commercial 45 either but I do not have the commercial 45 to verify.

I have both the commercial and promo 45s for this, and here are my findings: My commercial 45 has a listed time of (4:42), but an actual time of (4:38), which are the exact same findings posted by Ed, earlier in this thread. My stock 45's deadwax is "7-28359-A-SR1". Both sides of my promo 45 have the exact same, specifed "edit" version, with listed times of (3:57), but actual times of (3:51). Both sides of my promo 45 state deadwax info of "7-28539-DJ-SR2". Since (4:38) happens to be the exact run time, for both my commercial 45 and its database appearance on their "Mosaic" CD, might the two, in fact, be the same version? Perhaps Andy Chouffi can provide deadwax info for his commercial 45, which he claims has the lyrics not found on the original LP. Due to his posted info, I now suspect that what I once thought to be a "unique to the promo 45 edit" may have possibly also been issued as a commercial 45.

I've just finished a comparison of the LP version, stock version, and promo version. Yes, it is true that there are lyrics on both the stock and promo versions that are not on the LP version. On the stock 45, this unique section starts at 3:07. (According to Pat, these lyrics are taken from the soundtrack version, which I have not been able to hear.)

There is one other difference that I hear between the LP version and stock/promo versions. On the LP, there is a hi-hat throughout the song, which is mostly in the right channel, and it is more prominent in different sections. This hi-hat seems to be absent from the 45 version completely, or else it is so far back in the mix, it's barely audible.

So, in addition to the extra lyrics, the 45 version (and promo version) instrumentation is a slightly different mix from the LP version's instrumentation.

I'll have to take back my "instrumentation" comments. I just heard a much clearer copy of the vinyl 45, and the hi-hat that was inaudible on the other copy is actually there. It's amazing what differences can be detected when you're hearing a 45 without groove distortion!
