I just recently obtained a promo CD single for "No Pigeons," and it's different from the one Ed has. This appears to be an independent release, as there is no record company listed on the disc or inserts. It also has no copyright date or country, but I am pretty certain this was issued in the US prior to being picked up by Ruffhouse Records. Here are the details:

AVCD-96B-2 (all times are actual, as the disc has no printed times)
1. Dirty Mix (4:37)
2. Clean Mix (4:37)
3. Short Clean Radio (3:32)
4. Clean Jeep Mix (4:38)
5. Dirty Jeep Mix (4:37)

Regarding Ed's promo above, I'm 99% certain that is a UK promo. All other promos that begin with "XPCD" are all listed on Discogs as UK promos. Ed, can you check your copy to see if it mentions the UK?

Ah, but aaronk, after all those details, you neglected to mention the most important thing - your CD single on AVCD-96B-2 is by a different group: "Sporty Thieves"... :-p

Found one copy of AVCD-96B-2 currently listed on eBay from a seller in Japan, w/ excellent photos of all the inserts, as well as the disc itself: SPORTY THIEVES - "No Pigeons" (CD single) I agree this is most likely a U.S. pressing on an indie label, which preceded the hit release on Ruffhouse. However, as this version was clearly an indie release, I'm not convinced the CD is a promo. Unless I'm missing something, from what I can see in this seller's photos (which I assume matches your copy in every way, aaronk), it's not marked "promo" anywhere, the catalog no. - while not completely decipherable - doesn't appear to be "promo" in nature, not to mention it has full front & back artwork. Therefore, I'm currently leaning more toward this actually being a *commercial* CD single, even though it doesn't have a UPC (bar) code...

There was also a vinyl 12" single equivalent issued, w/ the same catalog no. ("AV96"), and the same artist billing, which is clearly a commercial/stock copy (note silver labels, and NO "promo" notation; has three versions): SPORTY THIEVES - "No Pigeons" (indie commercial 12" single)

And here's the white-label promo of the same vinyl 12" single (catalog no. "WL6" - betcha the "WL" stands for "white label"), and again, same artist billing, as shown on Discogs (note "LIMITED EDITION-PROMO ONLY" on labels; has five versions): SPORTY THIEVES - "No Pigeons" (indie promo 12" single)

So the catalog no. on the commercial 12" single would also back my theory that the CD single you have is of the commercial variety, and not a promo...

Yes, you're probably correct. I only assumed it was a promo, because there is no barcode.
